STEREO - Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory
This movie shows a spherical map of the Sun as it currently appears, formed from a combination of the latest STEREO Ahead and Behind beacon images. The movie starts with the view of the Sun as seen from Earth, with the 0 degree meridian line in the middle. The map then rotates through 360 degrees to show the part of the Sun not visible from Earth. The black wedge shows the part of the Sun not yet visible to the STEREO spacecraft. Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Special Weather Statement

Warning Date: 1:44 PM PST on February 8, 2010

WarningSum:...Snow Expected Through The Sierra And Western Nevada Tonight
Into Tuesday...

Warning Message:A cold low pressure system will drop from the Gulf of Alaska
southward along the California coastline on tonight into tomorrow.
This will bring a period of snow showers to much of the
region...including the western Nevada valleys around Reno and
Carson City. Due to the showery nature of this system...snow
amounts are going to vary considerably from one location to
another.
Snow showers will begin in the Sierra tonight spreading into
western Nevada by late tomorrow morning. The heaviest bands of
snow are expected during the day tomorrow...but at this time
there is little confidence on exactly where those bands will set
up.
Be prepared for travel to be impacted throughout the Sierra
starting tonight and across the Sierra and western Nevada
tomorrow. Travel delays or chain restrictions are a possibility
...Especially across any mountain passes.
Check our website at weather.Gov/Reno or listen to NOAA Weather
Radio for updates on this winter weather system.
